While it may seem as though the job of a photographer is simply to show up for a few hours and take some pictures, this is far from the truth. Taking on a new client and providing them with an excellent service experience requires a large investment of time, including personalized consultations, scouting, and hours of meticulous planning.
For every hour spent during an actual photo shoot, I spend many, many more on pre-planning and post production. Additionally, professional photographers tend to use the highest caliber of equipment that require maintenance to ensure the best outcome possible for every project.
Professional photographer prices reflect the costs of high quality cameras, lighting, computer equipment and continued education, which is high. Additionally there is the cost of doing business, which includes overhead, utilities and business expenses.
However, what you also get along with the price is the experience and talent of an artist who is able to craft an image in a striking and beautiful way. Weather it be to capture a special moment, or to shoot products for catalogs, a professional photographer knows how to add tremendous value to an images. To the point where a picture can be priceless.
